Wordless Wednesday – Iris bringer of rainbows

  1. I love the shade of the Katherine Hodgkin – and the detailing. Do you have these in pots all the year round, or are they in transit?

    • Katherine Hodgkin is a great favourite, I think it is available from bulb specialists. The miniature Iris live in pots because the flowers are too delicate to withstand the wind and the rain. In my last garden Iris reticulata grew outside in a sheltered corner. The others were outside in pots but were taken into a cold greenhouse so that we could enjoy the flowers.

  2. I love your collection of irises; they give me hope that spring will come.

    • They are lovely and as transient as the early spring sunshine, but they are the real of harbinger of the end of winter
