      Autumn is a great time for fungi, especially in woodland. Not easy to identify, but fun to try.

    We were due to go on a Wildlife Trust Fungal Foray this morning but the weather was torrential and beat us back. So lovely to see at least one identified Fungus today! I wish I were better at identifying them too.

      The weather is very unsettled, so when we get a breat between Atlantic fronts we try to get out for a walk. Joining a foray, preferably with the intention to learn about fungi apart from the edible species, is a great way to learn. Not the easiest of groups to get to grips with, but there are quite a few you can idebtify from a good field guide.

    I suppose the Head Gardener knew exactly what these were without having to consult a fungus book like the rest of us lesser mortals

      The Head Gardener is very knowledgable so no problems with this one. It is one of the easy ones, and the name is very descriptive.
