Do you use them before the birds get to them, Chris? I am half-thinking of picking our dog rose hips this year – if I get to them in time.
Last year there were only a few hips so I left them for the birds and apart from a few derisory pecks by a passing Greenfinch they were ignored. This year there are many more so time and weather permitting I will pick some and leave some. I am considering freezing them until I have time to make syrup or jelly.
